Guildford Lane Gallery is a for-hire contemporary exhibition and performance art space housed within a century-old furniture factory in Melbourne CBD, where many of the building’s historic textures and original aesthetic remain throughout it’s four unique floors.
Our Mission is to develop an encouraging, experimental and dynamic environment for a community that values interaction, education and diversity. Its aim is to continuously evolve and generate collaboration between the community of visual, literary and performing arts and the public.
In association with Red Leg Museum Services, we offer a range of installation and freighting solutions.
GLG hires its spaces for inclusion in the following programs, which are run by the Gallery. Proposals are sought to ensure that the nature of submissions are aligned with the Gallery philosophy and are of suitable artistic merit.
EXHIBITION & PERFORMANCE PROGRAM
Applications for Guildford Lane Gallery’s Exhibition & Performance Program are accepted on an ongoing basis. Applicants, artists and independent curators are invited to submit proposals for exhibitions, performances and events and are encouraged to apply well before preferred exhibiting time to ensure timely processing and organisation. Support letters for grant applications can be provided upon request.
Proposals of all media are considered. Experimental works as well as works in progress are encouraged. Submissions are accepted from individual artists, designers, collaborators, collectives, curators, festival directors & participants, students, universities and creative industries.
In addition to exhibitions and performances we seek applications for individual or ongoing programs of workshops/classes, lectures, forums, discussion groups, film screenings, soundscapes, collaborative and experimental works.

VOLUNTEER PROGRAM
Volunteers play an important role in the everyday operations of Guildford Lane Gallery. There are opportunities to gain experience and assist in a range of areas including installation, events, administration, gallery sitting, publicity and research. Volunteers are expected to commit 3.5 hours a week.
Expressions of interest should be emailed to glginfo@guildfordlanegallery.org and include a CV, short description of the area/s interested in, along with availability.
GALLERY HIRE
Spaces at Guildford Lane Gallery are available for corporate and private hire subject to the nature of the function. The Gallery holds an On-Premises Liquor Licence and therefore provides all bar services within its licence.
