It’s no accident that Emily Duncan’s hometown of Barnawartha translates to “meeting of storms.” Like a tempest, Emily’s powerful voice soars and resonates with a raw honesty, tamed with the quiet beauty of the calm and clarity that surrounds the storm. Emotion is everything for this Melbourne-based singer, which is evident in the truthfulness of her performances. Influenced by jazz, soul and blues greats – most prominently Ella Fitzgerald, Aretha Franklin and Ray Charles – Emily brings her own story to old standards interspersed with some of her favourite blues and soul tunes.
