SHOSTAKOVICH PLUGGED VS CAM BUTLER AND THE SHADOWS OF LOVE

Violin with amplifier

Saturday 2 October, 6 – 8 pm

As part of the Fringe Festival, violinist Sarah Curro has teamed up with Cam Butler to present a concert of contemporary music that is not to be missed.

Sarah’s string quartet, Shostakovich Plugged, will be playing Dimitri Shostakovich’s Twentieth century classic “String Quartet No.8,” ‘Plugged,’ using custom made semi-acoustic violins, viola and cello by master luthier Paul Davies. By performing with these magnificent amplified instruments the audience feels as if they are right in the middle of this spectacular classical music experience.  This intensifies the power and tragedy of this great work.

Beginning the concert is “Cam Butler And The Shadows Of Love,” a six-piece band that combines the liberating essence of electric guitar, bass and drums with Cam’s unique, soaring melodies and the beauty of a classical string section.

Please see Shostakovich Plugged’s homepage at http://shostakovichplugged.com.au/ and Cam Butler’s homepage at www.cambutler.com to find out more information on these artists and hear samples of their sensational music experiences.
