Guildford Lane Gallery offers a unique and innovative artist studio. The Open Art Studio is located on the first floor and, as its name suggests, is open for public viewing. This allows interaction between the artist and the public as well as giving the artist the chance to instantly exhibit finished or unfinished works within the studio. The Open Art Studio includes a fully secured storeroom and artists will have access to a workshop and museum services. Guildford Lane Gallery welcomes applications for its Open Art Studio from Australian and international artists. How to apply.
In addition to the art and exhibition program, Guildford Lane Gallery wishes to offer its spaces for a range of ephemeral and performance based practices, including but not limited to: lectures, talks, music, theatre, performance, dance. The Wednesday Project intends to promote marginal, peripheral and/or ephemeral art forms and critical forums. For such purposes, Guildford Lane Gallery will host a weekly Wednesday night program. The program presents a variety of art forms and critical forums. The program encourages applications from the arts community and applications are accepted on an ongoing basis. The program prefers applications from artists who are able to commit to a series of Wednesday nights. For example, a particular artist, curator or collective can host the first Wednesday of the month for a period of 4 months. This structure aims to ensure that the Wednesday Project is dynamic and diverse and also, that it presents a variety of art forms to the community.
The Wednesday Project is due to commence in late 2008. Please join our mailing list or visit the website for updates.
